The loader has special responsabilities following the ADR. The transport itself is mainly delegated to a qualified logistic company.

In this chapter you will learn about how the loading process has to be prepared and how transport procedure normally functions. There are also some points to note when receiving goods.

General provisions

The following must accompany the shipment:

  • ADR certification
    concerning the training of the driver,
    with a validity of 5 years




  • The means of transport must be equipped in
    accordance with the regulations


  • Fire extinguisher
  • Wheel chock
  • Warning signs
  • High-visibility vest
  • Torch
  • Respiratory protection



  • Additional equipment
    as per accident information sheet



  • Vehicle registration documents



  • Labeling of the outside
    of the vehicle

Prohibition of mixed loading

Consignments with different hazard labels must not be loaded together in the same vehicle if mixed loading is prohibited in accordance with the ADR table.

The table extract shows the instructions for acetone (Class 3):

Precautionary measures in the case of food, tobacco, beverages, and animal feed



Some substances (Entry "CV28" in Column 18 - loading, offloading, and handling - in the ADR dangerous goods list) must not be transported in the close vicinity of food, tobacco, beverages or animal feed (cf. ADR, Section 7.5.4).

Acetone may be loaded together with goods in classes 2, 3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, 5.2, 6.1, 6.2, 7A to 7C, 8, and 9.

Receipt

The recipient must not delay the receipt of the goods without good cause.

If packaging (such as drums) from the dangerous goods transport has not been cleaned, it must continue to be handled as dangerous.



The hazard labels must not be removed.
